Voicepoint implements dictation management solution for the University Hospital of Geneva

A few years ago, the University Hospital of Geneva (HUG) embarked on replacing its analogue dictation equipment with a digital dictation solution. HUG recently opted to introduce the Winscribe dictation management solution across its hospitals, equipping around 1,500 workstations in total. Thus, the country’s second largest hospital is now joining its largest hospital, the University Hospital of Bern, in using Winscribe for centralised dictation management.

In addition to Winscribe, modules are also being used to manage dictation devices from a central location (Voicepoint Device Administrator) and to directly create Winscribe users from AD (Voicepoint User Manager/AD Loader). In terms of equipment, the University Hospital of Geneva uses the new Philips DPM 8500 with barcode scanner and the Philips SpeechMike 3610, also with barcode scanner.

The Winscribe system is also integrated into the existing hospital information system in order to guarantee a link between dictations and cases. Users scan the case ID using a Philips DPM 8500 and subsequently upload dictations to the server. Based on the case ID, additional patient data is automatically attached to dictations, making the allocation of dictations to cases simpler and more secure in medical offices. Further advantages of the system are automated user management, which significantly reduces time required for system administration, plus the central configuration of all settings and workflows.
